During my many trips to Cape Charles over the years, I have seen the need for community service. I have been involved in many volunteer activities here in Cape Charles.
One of my first volunteer commitments was in the mid 1990s. I helped with the construction of the wooden pergola in Central Park. I also volunteered in the town's progressive dinner events. These consisted of visiting various homes and businesses in town, and each one would have a small portion of food - appetizer, soup, entree or dessert and sometimes with live music or singers overtime we went to Dickie Foster's house with a busload of people.
I have volunteered for the Fun Run, Love Fest, Festive Fridays, Central Park Concerts and many other events.
I am a past member and chairman of the Cape Charles Historic District. I am currently Vice President of the Cape Charles Historic District Civic Leave and just recently appointed to the Building Code Board of Appeals.
All of these experiences have given me firsthand insight into the needs and aspirations of our town residents, along with how town government and civic associations work.
